Join us September 30th - October 1st for a weekend getaway!

This workshop is based on over 45 years of research with more than 3,000 couples.  During the workshop you will discover new insights and practical, research-based skills to dramatically improve the intimacy and friendship in your relationship and help you manage conflict in a healthy and productive way.  All work is done privately as a couple, with no group disclosure.

In addition to the standard workshop material, I will be weaving in a Biblical perspective.  Portions of that material will come directly from the Biblical Reference Guide For the Gottman Method written by David Penner, Ph.D (a clinical psychologist, Certified Gottman Therapist, workshop trainer, and the former Clinical Director for the Gottman Institute).  I realize that this isn’t something that everyone is interested in or wanting.  If that is the case, there are quite a few ASL workshops around the U.S. and in Texas that offer the standard ASL workshop material without anything added.  To find out more about other workshops go to: https://www.gottman.com/couples/workshops/art-science-of-love/

If your relationship is distressed, this two-day workshop will provide you with a greater understanding of where you got off track and how to repair and rebuild what has been lost.

  • 94% of attendants have reported positive results.
  • Research has shown the workshop to achieve results similar to those of 6 months of marital therapy.

There are no prerequisites to attending a couples workshop. The workshop is self-contained and is appropriate even if you’ve never heard of Dr. John Gottman and his work. Some find it helpful to familiarize themselves with the material by reading The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work or watching short videos about the Gottman Method, but this is not required.

No. We recognize that newborns spend a lot of time sleeping, and it is difficult to be away from them during the first couples months. However, you will not be able to focus entirely on your relationship and it can be a distraction for other couples.

If you are coming from out of town, there are plenty of hotels within 15 minutes of our location. If you are local, you can certainly travel from home each day.  However, we recommend you try to keep the focus on your relationship throughout the entire weekend, if possible.  It can be difficult not to reengage with all the daily distractions and stressors you normally face at home.  Many couples find it beneficial to stay somewhere else during these weekends.
